PERI Treasurer, Tom George, Dies

     It is with sadness that we announce that Thomas George, PERI Treasurer, has passed away. Tom dedicated much of his time serving public employee retirees as a PERI chapter member, District 10 Representative and Treasurer on the Board of Directors.

Tom served as mayor of Lakewood from 2004 to 2007, and spent 16 years as a member of the Lakewood city council. He served on the board of the Ohio Municipal League and was an administrator with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.  He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and worked with him!

Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (West) 6928 Detroit Ave. Wednesday September 20 at 11:00am. Interment Private. Friends m a y c a l l at t h e McGorray-Hanna Funeral Home of Lakewood 14133 Detroit Ave, Tuesday 3-8PM.

    Class action lawsuit? They keep moving the goal posts on those already retired. We carefully weighed our options when we signed on the line to retire. They were up front about not covering us medically, but guaranteed us the 3% COLA if we retired as of a certain date. The biggest incentive for me, as I hoped it would keep up with medical premium increases. What a joke!
